Did you know that bees like caffeine?
☕🐝 Some plants, such as coffee trees and citrus fruits, naturally produce caffeine.
For plants, it is a defense against pests—but for bees, caffeine has a surprisingly different effect.
Scientific studies show that bees are attracted to nectar containing small amounts of caffeine.
Caffeine:
- increases their alertness
- improves their memory
- helps them better remember where food sources are located
As a result, bees return to these flowers more often, and plants have a better chance of being pollinated.
This is a beautiful example of how bees and plants are interconnected.
🌍🐝 Bees – one of the most important creatures on the planet
Without bees (and other pollinators):
- food production would decline significantly
- a large proportion of plants would disappear
- the landscape would lose its diversity
That is why it makes sense to protect not only honey bees, but also wild bees.
🌼 How can we help?
- plant flowering plants
- promote diversity in gardens and the countryside
- limit the use of chemicals
- give nature some space
Every flower counts 💛
Let's save wild bees.
