How is our honey made?

One bee produces approximately 9 grams of honey during its lifetime. That is roughly half a teaspoon of honey. For comparison, a beekeeping colony with about 50,000 bees can produce between 9 and 45 kilograms of honey per year.

Traditional Wooden Beehives

We own more than 50 bee colonies, which are traditionally kept in wooden hives, with a primary focus on maintaining the hives in good condition and keeping them clean.

New Light Honeycombs

All honey from our production comes from beautiful light combs, and great care is taken to ensure that the bee colonies do not live on old dark wax.

Without Chemical Medicines

Bee colonies are not treated with chemical medicines and the bees overwinter exclusively on honey. The honey is of organic quality.

We Do Not Supplement with Sugar

The bee colonies are not fed with sugar. This means that from each colony only as much honey is taken and extracted as allows the bees to still have enough reserves for the winter.

Stainless Steel and Glass Equipment

All handling of honey takes place first in stainless steel and then in glass containers. A stainless steel reversible honey extractor, stainless steel bottling tanks, and stainless steel uncapping equipment are used.

Traditional Bottling Methods

After extraction, the honey is poured directly into jars without any processing, heating, additives, or preservatives. No further handling of the honey takes place afterwards. These are traditional beekeeping methods.
